Only healthy plants 40 cm to 60 cm high with at least 12 good mature leaves and of pencil ( 0.5 cm) thickness at ( collar ) should be taken for planting in the field. In general 9 – 12 month old plants attain this stage. Sub standard plants should be discarded, before plants are removed from nursery, they should be hardened by gradual exposure to full sun. Transportation of the plants to the planting site in field should be done with utmost care and only after proper labeling. The best way for good quality tea planting should be up root from the nursery and plant on that very same day any tea planted more than three days out of the nursery will never give good quality and better yields of green leaf.
